Lieutenant General (Retired) Karsten Heckl is the Executive Vice President of Defense Programs at J. A. Green and Company. LtGen (Ret.) Heckl most recently served as the Commanding General, Marine Corps Combat Development Command (MCCDC)/Deputy Commandant for Combat Development and Integration (CD&I) for the United States Marine Corps, where he oversaw the intellectual and institutional epicenter for the evolution of the Marine Corps, focused on strategic vision, requirements analysis, innovative concept development, technology strategy and solution-building. He supervised the entire requirements enterprise for the Marine Corps from initiation to fielding.
During LtGen (Ret.) Heckl’s more than 36 years in the U. S. Marine Corps, he has commanded at every level, and his assignments have included multiple tours with Headquarters Marine Corps (HQMC), various joint billets and numerous operational and combat assignments. In his role as CG MCCDC/CD&I, he launched new concepts and new technology-driven equipment, such as The Functional Concept for Maritime Reconnaissance and Counter-Reconnaissance, The Concept for Stand-in Forces, and the Remotely Operated Ground Unit for Expeditionary (ROGUE) fires – Navy/Marine Expeditionary Ship Interdiction System (NMESIS). LtGen Heckl (Ret.) has served as the Commanding General of both the Second Marine Aircraft Wing and the First Marine Expeditionary Force, the largest warfighting formation in the Marine Corps, and he was the Chief of Staff for Naval Striking and Support Forces NATO and he was the Assistant Deputy Commandant for Aviation, HQMC. LtGen (Ret.) Heckl commissioned through Platoon Leaders Class (PLC) at Georgia State University with a B.B.A. in Accounting, and he has been recognized with numerous personal and unit awards for his service. He also holds an M.A. from the Naval War College in National Security and Strategic Studies. |
